The Reunification Express
The railway was built in 1881, running mainly along the coast, in a 1,072-mile journey connecting Ha Noi to Ho Chi Minh City. The Reunification Express of Vietnam has 6 different trains, moving schedulely between Ho Chi Minh City in the South and Ha Noi in the North. Seats ranging from sleeping cars, regular seats and soft seats.
Hopping in an express train, propped up in a cosy berth with a cup of tea in one hand and a paperback in the other while the train heads from one destination to the next. Keep your eyes out of the window, the scenery passing by will not disappoint you. A granted view into Vietnam, kitchens, backyards and alleyways and above all, the mesmerising East Sea greeting passengers with hazy blue water, a finger of cream sand running along its frothy edge.
Taking about two nights to travel along the backbone of the country down to Ho Chi Minh City, the route passes by key destinations such as Nha Trang, Hoi An, Da Nang, and Hue. Along the way from Hue to Da Nang, passengers will seize a chance to witness jungle rise up around the train, waxy leaves slap the sides and hot sunshine flashes in between barred windows.
