ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT - VIETNAM.TRAVEL

Last Updated: 2026

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all visitors, including people with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities. We continuously improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to guarantee an inclusive digital journey for all travelers exploring Vietnam.

1. OUR COMMITMENT & STANDARDS

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards, which define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

Our digital platform (vietnam.travel) is built to ensure content is Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR).

2. ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES ON OUR PLATFORM

To enhance your browsing experience, our portal incorporates the following core accessibility features:

A. Navigation & Display Controls

  • Keyboard Accessibility: All primary navigation menus, interactive destination maps, search filters, and content forms are fully navigable using a standard keyboard (Tab, Enter, Spacebar, and Arrow keys).

  • Screen Reader Compatibility: Structural HTML5 semantic markup, ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) landmarks, and descriptive element labels are integrated to work seamlessly with popular screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack).

  • High Contrast & Font Resizing: Built-in display toggles allow users to adjust text contrast levels and enlarge font sizes without breaking page layout or functionality.

B. Visual & Media Content

  • Alternative Text (Alt Text): Meaningful images, destination photos, graphics, and infographics are provided with descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are properly hidden from screen readers.

  • Text Alternatives for Multimedia: Transcripts, video captions, and audio descriptions are progressively provided for promotional video content and virtual tour guides.

  • Color Contrast: Foreground text and background colors meet or exceed the WCAG AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for standard text and 3:1 for large text.

C. Forms & Interactive Elements

  • Clear Form Input Labels: All contact forms, search bars, and interactive widgets feature explicit field labels, error notifications, and real-time guidance to prevent input mistakes.

  • Consistent Layout & Structure: Predictable navigation layouts, skip-to-content links, and clear heading hierarchies (H1 to H4) facilitate effortless scanning and navigation.

3. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS & COMPLIANCE ENVIRONMENT

Accessibility on Vietnam.travel relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML5

  • WAI-ARIA

  • CSS3

  • JavaScript / Modern Web APIs

In strict accordance with the Law on Personal Data Protection 2025 (Law No. 91/2025/QH15) and Decree No. 356/2025/NĐ-CP, any accessibility preferences or assistive device configurations saved by users are processed securely without collecting unapproved sensitive personal data or compromising user privacy.

4. KNOWN LIMITATIONS & ONGOING IMPROVEMENTS

While we aim for comprehensive accessibility across the entire Platform, some limitations may occur:

  1. Third-Party Interactive Widgets: External booking tools, third-party social media feeds, or embedded maps operated by outside entities may not fully conform to WCAG AA standards. We actively work with partners to improve third-party compliance.

  2. Archival & PDF Documents: Older downloadable tourism brochures, PDF maps, or legacy media published prior to system updates may lack full screen-reader optimization. Accessible text versions can be provided upon request.

  3. VR/AR & Virtual Tours: Interactive 3D/VR destination showcases may require high-performance hardware or alternative non-spatial navigation options.
