HAI PHONG, Vietnam (April 27, 2020) -- At 1 pm, June 6, 2020, Sun World Cat Ba Cable Car will officially put into operation. The Cat Hai – Phu Long three-wire cable car route will bring visitors a new way to reach Cat Ba Island, shortening travel time in half.

Cat Hai – Phu Long cable car route is the first component of the Sun World Cat Ba Cable Car Resort, but also the most crucial. The cable car was developed with the consultancy and design of Doppelmayr, the world’s leading cable car company. The route connects Cat Hai island to Cai Vieng wharf on Cat Ba island. With a total length of 3,955 meters, and a capacity of moving up to 4,500 people/hour. Each of the 60 cabins can hold up to 30 individuals, making the journey into the Gulf of Tonkin all the more relaxing and enjoyable.

In particular, the Cat Hai – Phu Long cable car has a cable pillar that’s 214.8 meters high, which has been recognised by Guinness World Records Organization as the “Tallest Cable Car Tower”.

The operation of Cat Hai – Phu Long cable car will help contribute to the improvement of tourism infrastructure. By minimizing congestion of ferries, especially during summer peak season, public holidays and the Lunar New Year. Tickets will cost, 150,000 VND/adult and 100,000 VND/children one way.

To celebrate its opening, Sun World Cat Ba Cable Car discounted fares of 200,000 VND/adult and 150,000 VND/children for the round trip ticket will be applied. Especially, for Hai Phong locals will also enjoy discounts of 100,000 VND for one-way tickets and 150,000 VND for round-trip tickets. The promotion will be applied from the opening on June 6 until June 30, 2020.
