Located about 70 km from Hanoi, Huong Pagoda is Vietnam’s most revered Buddhist pilgrimage site.
Annually, a vast number of pilgrims have been flocking to Huong Pagoda for the 3 months festival, which passes beautiful limestone karsts, rivers, and rice paddies along the way. Part of the pilgrimage is a walk up 120 stone steps to Thien Tru Pagoda. Central to the festival is the prayer said in Huong Tich, an ancient sacred cave. Devotees make a wish for the year ahead. Travelers can visit Huong Pagoda at any time of year, but the festival is a unique spectacle to witness.
