At the World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2024 held on 3rd September in Manila, the Philippines, Vietnam bagged a bunch of prestigious awards. Notably, Vietnam was crowned as “Asia’s Leading Destination 2024” for the sixth time.

The prime trophies

For its “amazing natural beauty combined with world-class levels of hospitality”, Vietnam nabbed Asia's Leading Destination for the sixth time in the last 7 years (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). The 2024 award honour attests to the rising of the all-round optimism and the powerful recovery of the tourism industry.

In other award categories, Vietnam was titled Asia's Leading Heritage Destination and Asia's Leading Nature Destination. These awards acted as the affirmation of Vietnam tourism’s position as an attractive destination, a bright star on the global tourism map.

Destinations in camera lens

The recognition was also focused on specific locations. The capital city of Hanoi won “Asia's Leading City Break Destination 2024” and “Asia's Leading City Destination 2024”. Undoubtedly, Hanoi draws travel lovers with its ancient relics, awe-inspiring architecture, mosaic mega modern atmosphere. The city well meets the category criteria of offering an attractive short leisure vacation and urban experience.

At the southern gateway of Hanoi, Ha Nam Province achieved the title “Asia's Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2024”. Ha Giang, Vietnam’s northern mountainous province, home to 22 ethnic groups and famous for its beautiful buckwheat flowers, won “Asia's Leading Regional Cultural Destination 2024”. Moc Chau (Son La Province) won “Asia's Leading Regional Nature Destination 2024” for the 3rd time in a row.

In the Central, Hoi An was awarded “Asia's Leading Cultural City Destination 2024”. This is the 5th time Hoi An won this precious title, as a testament to the unique cultural values of the ancient city recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage.

Down south, the commercial hub of Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City won “Asia's Leading Business Travel Destination 2024” and “Asia's Leading Festival & Event Destination 2024”.
